Alone on Christmas

Everytime I think about Christmas, I think about family. I can't have Christmas without my family. To me family and friends are the meaning of Christmas. Toys and trinkets are not what Christmas are all about. I've never had the huge Christmas that I hear about from my friends. The television programs make it seems like Christmas is all about the presents. They show huge trees with montsrous presents underneath. That's good that a pretend family can afford to buy fake gifts on the televison but lets get real. Not too many people can afford a mountain of gifts. When I was younger I was mad that I didn't get as many gifts as the other kids at school. But looking back at the happy memories that are associated with Christmas time I'm glad that my family hasn't always had a lot of money. I appreciate my family more(even though I don't always show it) than a lot of people my age do. I can't wait for Christmas this year although it will me my last Christmas in New Jersey. I can't wait to spend it with the people I love. Try not to concentrate on the material things as much this time of year. Appreciate your family as much as I do mine.

You need to watch more Christmas specials like "Rudolph...", and that one with the penguin. Because it mentions everything you've stated. It lets you know that it's not about the presents and other stuff.

I definately understand. And I see that family is very important to you. I too can not imagine the holidays without my family. And people have kind of lost sight of what is important during christmas. But I guess when we start growing up its no longer about toys and material things, but about loved ones. Haha but we all know presents aren't half bad. Love ya Beth Manzana Gate haha

Beth, I totally agree. TV shows only the pretend famalies with their perfect little children with the perfect gifts. The husband always surprises his wife with a beautiful $400.00+ dollar nicklace or some form of jewelery.

Family is much more important than recieving gifts (though gifts are always a pluss! :) )

But the REAL ACTUALL meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. It is really a religious holiday, that is its true meaning. I, as a Christian, try not to forget that every year. It easy to lose our focus on the real meaning...

You are completely right.
Christmas is about the ones you love and care about. Nowadays, too many people care about materialistic items and that makes me sick. All the advertising of gifts is sending a wrond message to childern about Christmas.

I couldn't agree with you anymore. Although, not to be hypocritical, I am one of those who love to see the mountain of gifts under my Christmas tree. It's not all about presents for me though, I love to buy presents for my family and closest friends. Most of all, the best part about Christmas is spending it with the ones you love the most.

I like this blog entry. Your entry is just like how I think. Christmas is really about family and friends and not toys and stuff like that. Nice blog entry.

This Christmas is going to be a bit better for me than before, because I'm actually buying a special gift for my mom and dad. Ya know, over the past seventeen years they've given me so many things and although I was thankful I was just bathing in my materialism.
